STRENGTHENING STEMXERA'S MARKET PENETRATION AND PROMOTING PUBLIC EDUCATION ON STEM CELLS

The Company continues to strengthen market penetration and public education regarding the safety of stem cell therapy. These efforts are part of Kimia Farma’s support for accelerating the development of the regenerative medicine business in Indonesia.

This topic was addressed by Kimia Farma during the public talk show titled "Update on Stem Cell Therapy & Its Derivatives in Indonesia," held as part of the 2026 Asian Cellular Therapy Organization & Indonesian Stem Cell Association (ACTO-ASPI) Annual Meeting on Saturday (August 29) at RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) Kencana.

The ACTO-ASPI Annual Meeting 2026 brought together researchers, physicians, regulators, academics, and industry players from various countries to discuss scientific advancements, clinical applications, and regulations concerning cell-based therapies. Kimia Farma utilized the public talk show platform to communicate scientific developments in accessible language, including the introduction of StemXera—a product portfolio based on research and high-tech innovation. StemXera is a brand of stem cell and secretome products developed jointly by Kimia Farma and RSCM since 2013.

Officially launched in April 2026, StemXera represents an innovative alternative regenerative therapy solution, particularly for managing degenerative conditions and addressing advanced medical therapeutic needs. As a product of RSCM’s stem cell laboratory facility, StemXera has obtained Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP/CPOB) certification from the Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), attesting to its high quality and adherence to safety standards in compliance with prevailing regulations.
Kimia Farma’s Commercial Director, Hanadi Setiarto, explained that the primary challenge in commercializing regenerative medicine is ensuring public understanding keeps pace with the rapid evolution of medical innovation. He noted that while scientific and technological advancements in regenerative medicine create new opportunities in healthcare, they must be balanced with adequate public education. "Our short-term focus is not limited to introducing StemXera to the public; rather, it involves expanding the network of healthcare facilities capable of providing this therapy service while maintaining high safety standards. For the medium and long term, we are promoting multi-center studies to ensure that the future clinical application of StemXera becomes more widespread and balanced, underpinned by solid clinical evidence," said Hanadi on Saturday (August 29).

Stem Cell Therapy Addresses Health Issues Ranging from Joint Degeneration to Aesthetics

Regenerative medicine is an advanced medical approach that harnesses the body's cells and biological components to repair, regenerate, or restore damaged tissues. One emerging technology in this field involves the use of stem cells and their derivatives, including secretomes.

In practical terms, this stem cell-based therapy is intended to address a variety of health issues. In orthopedics, it is used to treat degenerative joint conditions, such as osteoarthritis. In neurology, it supports the research and development of regenerative therapies for specific neurological conditions, including stroke. The therapy can also be applied in dermatology and aesthetics to address issues such as hair loss and skin rejuvenation, as well as to treat hyperpigmentation conditions like melasma.

According to Hanadi, the challenge in developing biotechnology products like StemXera lies not only in introducing innovation but also in building understanding and trust in the technology. "Advancements in regenerative therapy cannot be driven solely by technological progress. The public also needs accurate information regarding potential benefits, scientific evidence, safety, and usage. For Kimia Farma, innovation must go hand-in-hand with education and expanded access to quality, safe, and responsible healthcare services," Hanadi stated.
Therefore, Kimia Farma emphasizes the importance of collaboration among healthcare institutions, academics, researchers, regulators, medical professionals, and the industry to ensure that scientific innovations are effectively translated into clinical benefits. Through collaboration with RSCM and various other healthcare institutions, Hanadi stated that Kimia Farma aims to contribute to building an Indonesian regenerative medicine ecosystem capable of integrating research, technology, production capabilities, medical personnel, and patient care. "We believe collaboration is key to ensuring that healthcare innovation develops sustainably while delivering broader benefits to the community," Hanadi concluded.
