TEMPUYUNG FARMER VILLAGE INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Bandung, March 14th, 2023 - PT Kimia Farma Tbk (“KAEF”) continuously maintains relationships with the community through the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program. In order to encourage tempuyung farmers to develop their potential through the Creating Shared Value (CSV) approach, KAEF inaugurated the Tempuyung Farmer Village Industrial Development program in Sukamanah Village, Bandung Regency, West Java. Sukamanah Village is located in a hilly area which is the preferred location for cultivating tempuyung plants.

The Tempuyung Farmers Village Industrial Development Program was inaugurated directly by the Director of Resources KAEF Dharma Syahputra Human Resources and Head of the Horticulture Division of the Plant Service Food and Horticulture West Java Province Wardini Mulatsari. The Department also attended Bandung Regency Agriculture, Secretary to the Head of Pangalengan District, and Kasi Sukamanah Village Government.

Kimia Farma will assist the assisted farmers so that they can become cogs developing the capacity of tempuyung agricultural groups in their area. This program carried out with training on the utilization of tempuyung leaves, seed seeding training tempuyung, cultivation land management training, and land planting training cultivation.

Tempuyung is the raw material for Batugin herbal products owned by KAEF. With the nutritional content of tempuyung is believed to be able to help shed kidney stones or stones urinary tract. Tempuyung farmers will become official suppliers from KAEF so that the company obtained an alternative supplier of tempuyung leaves.

"Apart from being one of the suppliers of raw materials for herbal products owned by Kimia Farma, the existence of the Village Industry Development program will improve the welfare of farmers, so that the income of the farmers of the tempuyung cultivation assisted group will increase. The hope is that this program can be sustainable so that it will provide social and economic benefits," said Dharma Syahputra.

"Through Village Industry Development, Tempuyung farmers will take advantage of the potential of the land for farming community empowerment activities. In the end this program will support achievement of Sustainable Development Goals through agricultural productivity, increase economy, as well as preservation and sustainable use of land," said Wardini Mulatsari.
