PT Kimia Farma (Persero) Tbk (KAEF) affirms its commitment to supporting the acceleration of Tuberculosis (TB) elimination by 2030. As a strategic partner of the government and the backbone of national health, Kimia Farma has integrated capabilities ranging from raw material and finished drug production, distribution, and healthcare services to support efforts to achieve the TB elimination target by 2030 and a TB-free Indonesia by 2050.
The Indonesian government has designated TB elimination as one of its health priority agendas. Currently, TB remains one of the biggest public health challenges in Indonesia. According to the 2024 Global TB Report and data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health (2025), Indonesia ranks second in the world after India, with an estimated 1,090,000 TB cases and 125,000 deaths per year*. According to Ministry of Health data, in 2024, approximately 885,000 TB cases were detected and reported.
KAEF's commitment to TB elimination is demonstrated by its comprehensive portfolio of TB treatment options, covering both Drug-Sensitive TB (DS-TB) and Drug-Resistant TB (DR-TB) categories. Several preparations are available in fixed-dose combination (FDC) formulations specifically designed for both adults and children.
In line with the challenges of resistance and the need for more effective therapies, KAEF continues to develop and prepare for innovative TB therapies. One such product is the TB anti-infection product, Moxifloxacin, which was launched in 2025. KAEF is also preparing production readiness to support the implementation of more effective TB regimens in the future.
On the upstream side, KAEF has large-scale production capacity to ensure the national drug supply. Drug production is supported by Kimia Farma's modern formulation development and production facilities in Jakarta and Banjaran, with a total production capacity of over 500 million tablets per year. This integrated ecosystem, linking the end-to-end treatment process, is what makes KAEF strong as the backbone of the national healthcare system.

Through the forum, themed "End-to-End Tuberculosis Environment (Innovation, Business & Collaboration)," organized by the Health Development Policy Agency (BKPK) of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, KAEF affirmed its readiness to orchestrate the entire health value chain from upstream to downstream to address this national health challenge.
Three KAEF Service Sectors for TB Elimination in Indonesia
KAEF has an integrated end-to-end ecosystem to support the 2030 TB elimination target, spanning diagnostics and supply chain distribution to healthcare services. Effective TB control begins with early case detection.
KAEF not only produces drugs but also supports the provision of diagnostic infrastructure for early TB detection in the field, including the provision of TB LAMP test kits and X-ray-based screening to accelerate the early screening process. TB screening is an initial examination to detect the possibility of tuberculosis-causing bacterial infection in the body.
To support supply chain distribution, KAEF has an integrated upstream-to-downstream distribution network supported by 44 branches throughout Indonesia. Through this network, KAEF hopes to optimize the distribution of JKN program drugs and TB logistics needs, ensuring consistent, safe, and equitable distribution, including to the Frontier, Outermost, and Disadvantaged (3T) regions.
In the retail and direct service sectors, KAEF has a downstream ecosystem consisting of a network of over 1,000 pharmacies, over 350 health clinics, and 65 medical laboratories that can serve as integrated treatment centers. This network plays a role in supporting patient adherence to therapy through pharmacists, managing clinical referrals, and integrating real-time patient data with the Ministry of Health's Tuberculosis Information System (SITB).
"This end-to-end value chain integration is KAEF's contribution as a strategic partner to the government's goal of eliminating TB by 2030 and becoming TB-free by 2050," Djagad added.
TB Elimination Becomes a National Health Priority
The Indonesian government has designated TB elimination as a national health priority, in line with the global commitment to the End TB Strategy and the direction of national development, including strengthening the quality of human resources, health resilience, and transforming health services.
In the context of the President of the Republic of Indonesia's Asta Cita (Government Mission), accelerating TB control has strategic significance because TB impacts not only public health but also productivity, social protection, health financing, and the quality of Indonesia's human resources.
